It's Mind Right Monday...Check On Your 'Strong' Friends.
With one more week until the end of Mental Health Awareness Month, today's post is in memory of Arlana Miller (a 19 year old Southern University cheerleader who committed suicide on May 4) and a reminder to check on your 'strong' friends.
If you haven't done so already, take a minute to read Arlana's final instagram post 'a cry for help' heard too late.
The significance of AWOGI's "My Coffee and My Counselor" theme for this month is to remind us to (1) take a few minutes each day to consider the condition of our mental health (2) seek the assistance of those around us including help from the Master Counselor (3) to check up on others who may be in need of mental health support as well.
Help is available. Scripture reading, prayer, and meditation is always a great place to start. For additional support counselors and therapists can help us get back on track. Here are a couple resources that can help:
- Daily Treasures: can assist with topical scripture references from the Word of God
- National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI): can assist with professional resources in your area
