Birds of a feather flock together… It’s meaning—those who are similar or of the same kind typically form groups.
Joy and Peace are such pairs. They both originate from the almighty God, Himself. Both nouns, they describe unexplainable emotions during extraordinary circumstances.
Google defines joy as a feeling of pleasure and happiness. Peace is considered to be the absence of turbulence.
While both reference our internal state of being while encountering external forces God’s blessings come in spite of events or circumstances. In the middle of the storm, only God can give peace. In the midst of sorrow, only God can bring joy.
Romans 15:13 reminds us of this, “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
The first step towards possessing joy and peace is to believe that God is exactly who He says He is. It’s only through the power of God’s Holy Spirit that we can receive either—both.
As we approach the ending of one season and the beginning of another, I pray that you believe God's word is true. Likewise, I pray that God’s joy and peace continues to abound in your life minute by minute; hour by hour; day by day; and week to week.
Joy and Peace are birds of the same feather. Seek God's perspective, walk in His ways, and experience both.
