Seeds of Christmas Past
When comes to the word obedience, we often refer to children who are commanded to be obedient to their parents. Maybe that's why God calls all of us children.
Even as adults, we are required to obey authorities, the laws, and God.
Matthew 1:20-24
… Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: ….Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:
- Joseph was Jesus’ earthly father
- Joseph was of the lineage of King David
- Obedience means to submit to the authority of another
Joseph and Mary were engaged when she told him she was expecting a baby that wasn't his. Wow! What a weight for any man to bear.
I can't image what Joseph felt, but being an upstanding guy, he'd planned to end the relationship privately. That's until the angel of the Lord came to him in a dream to explain that Mary's baby would save the world from sin.
Joseph wasn't the biological father of Jesus, but he played a great part in God's plan.
Joseph obeyed.
