Seeds of Christmas Past
Have you ever been saved from danger? I have. Ten-year-old me, thought I could swim. In my mind, I really could swim, but when my feet no longer touched the pool floor I paniced. My mother rescued me—she was my life saver.
Panic and water don't mix. Neither does God and sin. This holiday season, I'm grateful for salvation, the physical and more importantly, the spiritual.
The Prophesy:
Zechariah 9:9
Rejoice greatly, O daughterof Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.
The Prophecy Fulfilled:
John 12:12b-14
…when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, took branches and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord. And Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is written...
- Salvation is the process of rescuing another from imminent danger (the penalty and power of sin)
- Jesus has the power to save us from the penalty of sin
Whether you agree or not, we all need a Savior.
Most of us think we'll be just fine on our own. I'm glad my mother was there when I needed her. But I'm really glad Jesus Christ was born because I need Him too.
All of us have sinned. Ever since Adam and Eve trusted the serpent, our relationship with God has been severed. Sin creates a void that seperates us from God. Jesus Christ came into the world to fill the sin void and help us to establish a relationship with God.
When we trust God's Plan for Salvation by accepting Jesus Christ as Savior, we are united with God forever.
