Have you ever been full-focused, then distracted by a trivial matter? I have.
Our earnest attempts to do the will of God are suspect to devilish distractions. That’s what happened to Martha.
Luke 10: 28-41 records this, Now it happened as they went that He entered a certain village; and a certain woman named Martha welcomed Him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word. But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.”
Today, I see this verse through a different lens. This verse points out that on normal occasions, both Mary and Martha sat at a Jesus’ feet waiting to hear Him teach. But today was different. Martha was off—she was distracted.
We must remember that the devil comes to steal, kill, and destroy. His attempts will always be to take us away from, change our minds about, and cause us to either not hear or not live according to God’s word. Martha experienced devilish distractions. So do we.
Sisters Seeking The Savior
We still need a Savior. Even when Jesus is in our midst, we need to be saved from distractions that cause us to miss out on hearing a word of deliverance.
God is always at work speaking to us, bidding us, and drawing us closer to Him. Devilish distractions aim to hold even the strongest Christians back from walking in their greatest potential and experiencing God’s very best.
We must be careful and remain vigilant because even the simplest, seemingly needful activities can keep us from sitting at Jesus’ feet. For Martha it was dishes.
We should ask ourselves, “What distractions are holding me back from all that God has to offer?” God is always ready to save Sisters Seeking The Savior.
