Don't Tell Stories

Our Forgiveness Story

· Forgiveness

When I was coming up, my parents wouldn't allow us to say the word L-I-E or call anyone a L-I-A-R. Instead we had to say telling stories. If someone wasn't telling the truth, they were telling stories.

When it comes to our Forgiveness Story, we should start at the beginning—with the truth. You are guilty of sin and in need of forgiveness. I am in the same boat.

1 John 1:8-10 reminds us of this, “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.”

Let’s not get it twisted, we're all guilty of some sort of sin. While we might rank them as small or large sinsGod doesn't. The Bible reminds us that if we say we don’t have sin, we're telling stories.

Here is the good part, God is in the forgiveness business. His ultimate desire is that we come to Him in earnest sincerity admitting our faults and asking for His forgiveness.

Before we point a finger at anyone else, let’s search our own hearts for our own sins. Each of us must be prepared to confess our sin and turn ourselves God asking for His forgiveness.

Don’t fool yourself and don't tell stories. No one is exempt from falling short of God’s expectation. We must remember that God is faithful. He promised to forgive, cleanse, and strengthen us from our sinful selves.

Don't tell stories. Tell God the truth and ask for His forgiveness.
