Evil Triplet Traits

October 1, 2025

Arrogance, haughtiness, and pride are peas of the same pod. As evil triplets, all three are characterized by an excessive self-love and a spirit of self-exaltation that places one-self above every body else, including God. Conjoined at the hip, this trio is usually referenced together and complement each other—not in a good way.

Isaiah 13:11 is God’s promise to those who walk in the spirit of the evil triplets, “I will punish the world for its evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; I will halt the arrogance of the proud, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible."

Dig Deeper…

Do people intentionally walk in arrogance, haughtiness or pride? Honestly, I don’t know the answer to that question, but the thought of such scares me out of my wits.

In my mind, evil triplet traits are neither admirable nor apparent initially. These traits are conjured up by the gradual progression of inward glorification of God-given talent, accomplishments, abilities, and favor.

Sometimes, the triplets arrive unannounced catching us off guard when those who mean well go too far with accolades and honor by placing folk on pedestals they should never occupy.

Either way, we must examine ourselves often to ensure that minute traces of evil triplet trait and its residue is washed away by giving sincere worship, praise, and honor to God.

We must also be careful not to allow people to buck us up by telling us how much of a good job we’ve done and how great we are. We should always remember give all glory and honor to God and God alone!

We must always remember that God is the giver of all things. With sincere gratitude, we must give God the glory and honor for everything He's done and will ever do in, through, and for us.

My Prayer: Dear Lord, please forgive me for any actions, words, or deeds that demonstrate evil triplet traits (pride, arrogance, or haughtiness). Help me to examine my motives daily and be attentive to the tinyest trace of self-glorification. I give you all the glory, honor, and praise.
