Focus on YOUR Walk

Can you walk and chew gum at the same time?

This rhetorical question reminds me of the word "multi-task", which was a popular buzz word several years back. Many include "multi-task" amongst a list of qualities on their resume. It didn’t take long for me to admit that I wasn't an effective multi-tasker. There's no way I can do three things—at the same time—well. For me, all of them will be lacking.

As we continue to examine our focus, Ephesians 5:15-16 reminds us of this, “See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.”

Focus on YOUR walk—in other words your lifestyle and habits; how you live; decisions you need to make; and the company you keep.

Today’s scripture reference is included in a passage that encourages us to consider what pleases God and not to waste time on people or things that don’t represent light and fruitfulness.

Too often, we focus too much on others—what they have, where they go, what they say, what they think, what they’re doing, and what they look like. Stop!

Maintain a singular focus—focus on YOUR life and your life alone. Your one life is quite enough to keep you busy from now til Jesus comes back.

God created you to be YOU. He has a special plan and purpose-sized just for you.

Seek His direction in walking in YOUR greatest potential. Make decisions carefully and prayerfully. Set boundaries that keep the wrong folks out and the right folks in your circle of reference. Make choices that increase your faith in God and position you at the center of His will.

Read your Bible. Commit to personal devotion. Go to church. Pray. Fast. And just in case you're already doing all of those things on a regular and consistent basis, it's time to step out on the things God is already telling YOU to do.

Become a single-tasker. Focus on YOUR own walk.
