God Cares

· Trust

Growing up in church-life I recall all sorts of “church-isms.” Here are a few church quotes that are common to Black Baptists:

God is good all the time and all the time God is good.

When you make one step, God makes two.

I’m too blessed to be stressed.

God will never give you more than you can handle.

I’m not sure how these quotes came to being—they're not in the Bible.

A few months ago, I heard a pastor on social media challenge “God will never give you more than you can handle” quote. He said, "God gives us more than we can handle all the time." We're not intended to handle struggle without God. The whole point is that God wants us to bring our challenges to Him.

When we feel overwhelmed, we must remember that God is always there.

1 Peter 5:6-7 says this, “Therefore humble yourselves under the might hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your cares upon Him for He cares for you.

As we continue with our focus on surrender, today’s reference reminds us to align ourselves under God’s direction (hand). It does not say that we should “pray our problems away.” Truth is, struggle can build character and faith.

Whenever we feel as though God is giving us more than we can handle, that's the first sign of God calling us to look to and rely upon Him.

God cares about us. He is concerned about our everyday. His strength shines amidst our inability to handle difficult situations.

I Surrender All….
