In the midst of my back yard, stands a huge Magnolia tree. She must be about 30 feet tall. For the past three years she didn’t bear a single bud. Springtime after springtime I waited. Summertime after summertime, I searched. For three years, no buds.

She continued to stand tall, remain gorgeous, provide shade from the sun and shelter to the birds, but no buds. I often wondered why a tree so huge produced no flowers. The trunk seemed healthy, the leaves looked normal, but no buds. I thought she might have been sick or diseased.

Spring of 2026 would be a different year. To my surprise Magnolia budded and produced many beautiful flowers. For days, I cut blooms and brought them inside to enjoy.

This experience reminds me of Psalm 1:3-4 which says, “He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.

God orchastrates the process; fruit is produced in seasons.

Sometimes, our day-to-day is normal, routine, and mundane. Having the same schedule, seeing the same people, being in the same place can make our experiences seem monotonous.

Seasons change. Some seasons are filled will abundant bloom while others produce drought and lack.

Never become too attached to anything or anyone. Over time life changes, children grow up, people die, our bodies age, and new-normals are developed. All because God orchastrates the process and fruit is produced in seasons.

Magnolia continues to remind me that those who trust God and walk in His ways will stand strong and tall. Though her fruit is produced is seasons, she remains firmly planted. Whatever she does, will prosper.

Stand tall, regardless of the season.
