According to Wikipedia, meditation is a practice where an individual uses a technique – such as mindfulness, or focusing the mind on a particular object, though, or activity – to train attention and awareness, and achieve a mentally clear and emotionally calm and stable state. I love that definition.
Meditation is exercise and thought practice for the mind. When we meditate we train our minds to focus and think on a particular thing.
The word meditate is listed about twenty times in the Bible. More than half of those references can be found in the book of Psalms. Most of those references speak specifically to the importance of meditating on the Word of God, the Works of God, and the Ways of God.
“I will meditate on Your precepts, and contemplate Your ways.” Psalms 119: 15
God is truly AMAZING! He has done AWESOME things! His wonders are ASTOUNDING!
Concentrating on God will kick your meditation game up to a new level. It has the capacity to transform your thinking, alter your attitude, and change your life.
So, take time to exercise your mind. Train your thoughts to focus on God, His word, His works and His ways, ….You will be better for the effort.
