Mother's Day Legacy:

Family

· Legacy,Faith

My mother was a great mother. But I think she was an even better grandmother. Almost 50 years since her passing my nieces and nephews who are old enough to remember her still speak of her faith and her love for family.

She loved her grandchildren. She played games with them and enjoyed talking to and laughing with them often. She also brought them to church—if they were at our house on Saturday night, everybody knew you had to be ready for church on Sunday morning.

I aim to be the kind of grandmother my mother was. Daily, I seek to be the Timothy-kind of grandmother referenced in 1 Timothy 1:5 by the Apostle Paul referenced, “when I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also.”

Legacy requires diligence and consistency.

Grandmothering to our grandkids—7: 7 and under—is a tremendous blessing. Every single day, I ask God for wisdom and knowledge to impart upon them the knowledge of God and faith in Jesus Christ.

Family is important. More importantly, giving them the gift of knowing who God is and encouraging them to look to God for guidance and strength is the pentacle of the ultimate legacy.
