Pre-GPS days, have you ever attempted to drive to a location you'd never been to before with a person who swore they knew the way? I have.

Miles of frustration, passed and repassed landmarks, circled-blocks, and several “I think this-is-it’s” later, just to find out that the “Back-Seat Driver” didn't have a clue. Lost time, wasted gas money, angry conversation and you arrived either late or not at all.

Most Back-Seat Drivers are terrible guides. On the other hand, the Bible is the BEST guide.

It’s great to have people to depend upon. Truth is, people are better company than guides. Their experience—regardless to how vast—isn’t sufficient for your journey. You need the Bible.

Even when folks have good intentions, following their directions instead of the Bible's will lead to uneven lanes, moving violations, and accidental occurrences, causing pain and loss.

Read the Letters

The Bible is the BEST guide. Choose biblical instructions first. You may not always understand the reasons for certain commands. Some roads might cause you to take the long route. Others will tell you to detour. You may hear “stop” when you think you should go or “reverse” when you think you should turn right. Adhering to biblical guidelines allows you to avoid many of life’s potholes, dead-ends, crashes, and road rage.

As you travel along your journey, here are a few directions the Bible has to offer:

• Therefore stop contention before a quarrel starts (Proverbs 17:14b)
• So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath (James 1:19)
• But when the wicked turns from his wickedness and does what is lawful and right, he shall live because of it. (Ezekiel 33:19)
• Go, and sin no more (John 8:11b)
  

In my mind, the Bible is God’s Love Letters to mankind. Let the Bible be your guide. Read the Letters.
