Structure...

· Be Mindful

You may not be able to prevent birds from flying over your head, but you can prevent them from building a nest in your hair. Structure….

Growing up, my mother had a garden in the backyard. Not much—greens, okra, and tomatoes. Because tomatoes grow on a vine they require structure. As the tomatoes grow their weight tends to overpower the stability of the vine. Structure—a stake in the ground and rope to tie the vine to the stake—saves the tomato from rotting on the ground.

Our mind requires the same type of structure—guidelines that hold us up, helping us to grow and develop appropriately. The Bible is clear on the type of structure needed to keep our minds strong and our conscious intact.

Philippians 4:8 says this, “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.”

The Mind Believes What You Tell It

Structure for the mind—meditate on these things....

Our thoughts are powerful. We have the ability to control our own narrative. Just as life and death is in the power of the tongue, success and failure is in the depths of the mind.

The mind is fertile soil and it believes what you tell it. Structure puts the necessary elements in place to ensure success and forward mobility. Structure keeps it positive by focusing on the brighter side. Structure positions us to keep the birds from building a nest in our hair.

Be mindful. Add structure to your day by talking to your mind. Tell it how great God is and all the great things He has prepared for you. Meditate on the things that bring life, love, and laughter.
