A Season

of Gratitude

· Thankfulness

Instant gratification. As time moves forward our minds are being more and more conditioned to immediate responses. Take my four grandsons for example. At age 4 and 5, they have a hard time waiting for anything. Truth is, so do most of us. We want everything now.

Wait is a word most of us have trouble hearing. Stay where you are or delay an action until a particular time or until something else happens—that's Google’s definition of wait.

Isaiah 40:31 reminds us of this, "But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint. "

God is never in a hurry. He understands what we need and when we need it. Exercise, conditioning, and discipline are qualities that help us to accomplish great things. Consciously placing ourselves in a position of dependence upon God requires us to wait for Him.

There is power in the wait. We must wait to heal. We must wait to see progress. Changes, growth, and development occur in the wait. It won't be easy, but it will be worth it.

Let’s begin to relish the ministry of waiting on God: Stay where you are or delay an action until a particular time or until something else happens.

Keep praying, keep reading God's Word, keep seeking God's direction, and keep believing for God's best.

Wait until God says or does something different. In the end, we'll thank God for renewed strength. We'll find ourselves in a closer relationship with Him. We'll find refreshing strength, and He won’t let us down.

Be thanful for the wait and for renewed strength.
