Years ago, there was a television commercial advertising a bath soap. It featured a woman reaching her limit after taking care of the home, family, and getting through the daily routine of running the house.
Feeling somewhat overwhelmed, she retreats to the privacy of the bathroom with a shout, "Calgone, take me away!" and enjoys a luxurious soak without interruptions.
Sounds like a much-needed break!
Along this Christian journey, women especially, need to have some “me” time. We spend many hours taking care of the needs of others while neglecting our own.
Jesus often retreated to a solitary place where He could be one on one with The Father to regenerate, rejuvenate, and reconnect after a day of immense spiritual and physical draining. (Luke 5:16)
Ladies, its no dishonor or discredit to spend some time taking care of ourselves. In fact, in order to be the “help meet” that God created us to be, we need to have some time to take care of our own needs (Ephesians 2:10).
Intimate time with our Heavenly Father is needed to re-empower us for the task. In addition to Spiritual “me time”, we also need some physical time to rest, relax, and even enjoy a bit of pampering.
Take time to withdraw from the daily monotony. Draw yourself a luxurious bath, lock the door, and relax with no interruptions. Believe me, it’s okay!
Challenge:
- Depend on God to provide the time for personal indulgence because He cares about our well-being.
- Take advantage of the time God gives us to just relax.
- Remember that God’s Word rejuvenates us in every area of our lives.
