D.I.E.T.

· Food For Thought

We should always be very concerned about the things we put into our body. While the foods we eat and drink are extremely important, our spiritual intake is much more significant.

As September’s focus, “Lay Aside Every Weight” comes to a close we must remember the importance of a healthy D.I.E.T.

When it comes to nourishing our bodies spiritually we must be proactive and prioritize the things that are most important.

Remember God’s command in Joshua 1:8:

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

This verse expresses the need for a healthy spiritual D.I.E.T.

Dig into God’s Word

The Bible is not simply a book of verses. The Bible is God’s message to mankind. Through the expression of His love for us, He shares how we can obtain success in life by maintaining the right kind of relationship with Him and with others.

Intentionally Seek God’s Perspective

Regardless of who we are and what we know, we will never out rank God. In general, mankind’s thinking process is self-seeking and self-serving. When we see things from God’s perspective we yield our way of doing things and surrender to His.

Exercise Faith

In the Book of Joshua Chapter 1, God is speaking to Joshua’s fears. He reminds Joshua of His continued guidance and support. Today, God speaks the same words to us. Fear is an emotion that (when left unchecked) has the capability to stifles us and prevents us from walking in faith. Though fear is real, we must learn to condition our bodies and our minds to walk through fear and walk in faith.

Trust God in all things

On one hand, God has a plan for our lives that is real and specific. On the other hand, there are things in life that can prevent us from becoming all that we can be. A lack of preparation and focus could deter us from our goal. We must trust God enough to follow His direction and His way of doing things in order to be victorious.

Obstacles are inevitable. God is formidable.
