Seeds of Christmas Past:
The spirit of Christmas is based on giving. Our willingness to share ourselves and what we have with others emulate the joy of the season.
God is a giver. He gave Jesus Christ, His Son to be our example and a sacrifical offering for mankind.
The Prophesy:
Isaiah 53:10
Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise Him; He has put Him to grief. When You make His soul an offering for sin, He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days, And the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in His hand.
Prophecy Fulfilled:
Ephesians 5:1-2
Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.
- An offering is a person or a thing presented in order to satisfy a requirement
- Because of sin:
- Adam died a spiritual death (Gen. 2:16-17)
- Jesus died a physical death (John 18:32)
Jesus Christ gave the ultimate—His life. Jesus was born to be an offering. His life was given as an offering for ours. He died that we might have a relationship with God and eternal life in heaven.
