Four O'Clock

March Gladness

· March Gladness,Grow

When I was little, living in Uptown New Orleans, four o’clocks grew plentiful.

I hadn’t seen one in more than 40 years and all of sudden, this lush green stalk spouted up in my garden. My first thought was to cut it down, but something told me, “wait to see what the end will be.” To my pleasant surprise, it was “Four O’clocks—the flower.”

According to Google, the four o’clock flower signifies passion and transformation—I love that! Its element, Fire, is associated with an enthusiasm for life, encouraging change and inspiring personal growth—I love that too!

Who knew? This flower reminds me of ME. Learning more about its significance is truly a blessing I hadn’t expected.

Four o'clocks, also known as Marvel of Peru or Mirabilis jalapa, are named for their late-afternoon to early-evening blooming habit, typically opening around 4 PM, and are known for their fragrant, trumpet-shaped flowers.

March Gladness

As I conclude March Gladness my heart is overjoyed to end it on such a motivational note. I'll keep my eye opened for four o’clocks to spring up. I'll pay closer attention to hours and minutes, because four o’clock is the time for transformation.

This vibrant beauty will continue to be my reminder that day is transitioning to evening. My once hot sunny existence is changing to cool and fragrant.

Thanks to my four o'clock reminder, I'll continue to embrace change as a beautiful phenomenon inspiring me to grow beyond my wildest imagination.

Who knew? Thank you four o’clock!
