God Knows

My Heart...

Increasing Faith

September 13, 2024

All of us have prentended in on way or another....

If you’re over 40 chances are you’ve heard the phrase, “God knows my heart.” I’m not sure who canned that phrase, but I think the statement is truer than the author knew.

In my opinion, sometimes this infamous phrase is used when our motives aren’t pure and we're pretending to be something we're not—adding the tagline for our own personal edification.

The woman in this week’s story was not a pretender. She was sincere. Jesus saw the intentions of her heart and determined that her faith was real.

Luke 7:50 records these words, Then He (Jesus) said to the woman,“Your faith has saved you. Go in peace.”

Real talk, God really does know our hearts and our intentions; whether we are real or pretending; whether we honor Him with true worship or with vain repetitions.

We might be able to fool some of the people some of the time, but we never fool God.

True faith in God is demonstrated from a sincere heart. Real faith in God is always followed by the acknowledgement of sin, reverence for God, and repentance. The woman in today’s story demonstrated all of those attributes. Her faith saved her.

God knows my heart and He also knows yours. Let’s be sure that our actions fall in line with a heart that is bent towards accomplishing the perfect will of God and not pretence.

And when we don't line up with God, He's always available to hear a sincere plea for help in becoming ex-pretenders.

...because God knows our heart!

Read this week's passage in it's entirety Luke 7:36-50.
