Gratefulness

looks like....

September 3, 2025

What does gratefulness look like? If I were to see a picture of gratefulness, what elements would rise cream-like? How would I know gratefulness when I see it?

I’ve heard people say that whatever is in one's heart will be seen in their actions. So, my gratefulness to God should come from within and be apparent to me and others.

Psalm 9: 1-2 says this, I will praise You, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will tell of all Your marvelous works. I will be glad and rejoice in You; I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High.

It’s funny how when I praise God, nothing else matters. When I turn my focus God-ward everything else is less polarized. But it doesn’t stop there—today’s verse reminds me that I should tell others about God’s marvelous works.

Gratefulness is a God thing.

True gratefulness flows from the heart. True gratefulness supersedes daily concerns with confident faith in God’s providential care and sees lessons learned in every situation.

Come to think of it, this is everything God desires. The Bible is filled with reminders to look for God, look to God, and encourage others to do the same.

Gratefulness is never overwhelmed by life. Gratefulness focuses on God's perfect will. Gratefulness points to every facet of life as an opportunity to offer praise to God.

When I praise God with my whole heart and tell others of His marvelous works I demonstrate what gratefulness look like. Gratefulness looks like praise.

Today, I See ME As Grateful!
