I see me as

Grateful

September 2, 2025

I heard someone say that there is a difference between being thankful and being grateful. When I am thankful, I show my appreciation for one act of kindness. But gratefulness is a way of life, especially when things don’t go as planned.

Gratefulness is always giving thanks—in, through, and for all things.

Do I see myself as grateful?

Ephesians chapter 5 provides insight on being grateful by Walking in Love, Walking in Light, and Walking in Wisdom. Verse 17 begins by saying, “Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is…." Verse 20 concludes with giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name ofour Lord Jesus Christ…"

In my mind, these scriptures depict the epitome of gratefulness. As I begin to see myself as grateful, I must begin with God’s will—not my own. God’s will is for me to walk in love, light, and wisdom.

Love, light, and wisdom are God-like characteristics—traits that will never be attained in, of, or by my own means. Choosing gratefulness means that I must choose God. When I don’t agree or understand I must choose God. In the wonderful times and in the not-so-wonderful times I must choose to walk in love, light, and wisdom.

I am grateful for God’s perspective. His perspective isn’t easy to come by—it’s much different from my own selfish mindset. It’s bigger than me. As I learn more about God, I begin to see things differently—and I am grateful. Even when I’m not perfect, I am grateful.

Today, I see me as grateful…..
