Joy in Believing

April 22, 2026

The later part of Nehemiah chapter 8 verse 10 says this, “…for the joy of the Lord is your strength". I’ve heard people quote that verse for years. In all transparency—I don’t quite get it, for real.

When I think of joy—I think of God-like character. Joy is all about embracing all that God can do and acknowledging His perfect will should He refuse to.

When I face challenging situations, I aim to think God-ward. Since I believe God can do anything but fail I must trust what God allows and believe in His sovereign plan, even when things don’t turn out like I expect. While this practice is easier said than done my joy is found in believing.

I find joy in believing God.

When I can’t wrap my head around something, wonder why, don’t agree, can’t understand, or fail to comprehend, I find joy in believing God.

While the scripture proclaims, the joy of the Lord is my strength… I see it from a different angle—I find joy in believing.
