MIAW: Day 1

· MIAW

It’s Mind Right Monday….and Mental Illness Awareness Week.

Our Mind Right Monday word for the week is Community.

October 5–11 is Mental Illness Awareness Week. This year’s theme is “Building Community: Supporting Mental Well-being Together".

According to the National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI), recognizing the need to raise awareness and address mental health challenges, Congress officially established the first full week of October as Mental Illness Awareness Week (MIAW) in 1990, thanks to NAMI’s advocacy. Since then, communities across the country have come together annually to raise awareness, fight stigma, and support mental health.

For the next week, AWOGI posts will provide information about the importance of learning more about how we can manage our mental health, supporting loved ones who may be experiencing mental illness concerns, and providing resources that can help.
