Every word counts when we’re talking to people and when we’re talking to God.
Yes, I said, “Talk to God”. Some people call it prayer, but in common terms when we pray, we talk to God.
Truth be told, most of our prayer life is filled with gimme lists, where we ask God to give me this and give me that. God desires conversation—relationship—fellowship. He wants to know what’s on our hearts, how our day is going, and what we're feeling.
Most importantly, He wants to share what’s on His heart. He wants us to know the thoughts He thinks about us, that He loves and cares for us.
James 1:5 says this, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.”
Talk to God: He Talks Back
God desires that we walk in the ways of wisdom. And since wisdom only comes from God, we have to go to Him in order to obtain it.
While wisdom is great, it's not the only thing God offers. God loves us unconditionally. Like the dawning of a new day, He is always present. Like a true best friend, He will always have our backs. Like the world’s greatest father, He only has our best interest in mind. Like a trusted advisor, He guides us along the way and reminds us that our decisions have consequences. And even when we mess things up, His forgiveness saves us from destruction.
