Train Your Brain

June 24, 2025

Focus—the verb—is defined as to pay particular attention to. This week is designed to encourage us to pay particular attention to things that bring light, love, and laugther.

It's funny how it doesn't take much work to focus on the negative. But focusing on the positive requires constant reminders and real discipline involving our mental capacity. Since focus requires a deliberate act of our brain power and mental willingness, it makes perfect sense to begin with the mind.

The mind is an awesome and complexed instrument. It can be programmed and reprogrammed to focus on whatever we desire. Like a body builder in action, the mind can be shaped in such a way that it propels us to accomplish amazing things.

Romans 12:2 proclaims, "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect."

The person we become is largely dependent upon our focus, what we feed our mind, and the actions that follow our thought process. In many cases things we pay close attention to will determine whether we succeed or fail; win or lose; stand victoriously or fall defeatedly.

Truth is, most of the devil’s attacks challenge our focus and our thoughts. The Bible is clear in that we can control the narrative. By managing our focus and our thoughts we can change our lives for the better.

The transformation process is an act of the will—we have to want it. The transformation process involves changing from one form to someone better.

Let's control the narative. The renewing of our minds minds requires focus. Let's train our brain to pay particular attention to things that are good, acceptable, and the perfect will of God.
