Trouble is Only Temporary

· Food For Thought

As I think about the story of Job, I am reminded of the song entitled, “Trouble Don’t Last Always”.

The Bible doesn’t give any details about how long Job’s trouble lasted. To Job (and Mrs. Job) I’m sure it probably seemed as if it were a life time.

When we experience trouble, it often seems as though time stands still. Even when we have support, trouble can leave us feeling all alone—friends don’t understand and most times, can’t relate.

Truth is, we're never alone and neither was Job. Though it may appear that God stands afar, He carries us through the deepest hour of our darkness.

42 chapters later the Bible records this, “Now the Lord blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning; for he had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, one thousand yoke of oxen, and one thousand female donkeys. He also had seven sons and three daughters.”

Trouble is Only Temporary

Though Job’s experience was quite devastating, it wasn't the end of Job. Likewise, trouble won’t be the end of you either.

The Bible records that Job recovered from his illness. His cattle and livestock were restored to him double-fold. And more importantly, God blessed him with seven more sons and three more daughters.

Be encouraged.

Your trouble is a trust: God is trustworthy. Just as you trust God, allow God to trust you with trouble.

Your trouble is a treasure: As an avenue for purification, adversity provides evidence of God’s faithfulness.

Your Trouble is only temporary: Though weeping may endure for a night, joy comes in the morning.
