Birds of a feather flock together…
Salutations: In Bible days greetings were often in the form of a prayer. Upon entering or leaving a group or people, it was common to pronounce God’s blessings of grace and mercy upon them. It was almost like saying, ‘I hope you have a nice day!’ but with a more spiritual tone.
2 John 1:3 says this, “Grace, mercy, and peace will be with you from God the Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.”
The use of such salutation is a reminder that Grace and Mercy come from God. Further, it acknowledges how much we desperately need both.
We pray for everything else—strength, wisdom, success, money—why not pray for grace and mercy?
Don’t just pray those things for yourself, ask God’s grace and mercy blessings upon your family, friends, and those you meet on a daily basis.
So, my prayer for you today—Grace and Mercy from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ. You need it and so do I.
Grace and Mercy are amazingly beautiful birds of the same feather. Seek God’s perspective, walk in His ways, and experience both.
