Faithful Generation
Seeds of Christmas Past is designed to provide reminders of God's plan and purpose to reunite us back to Himself through the birth, life, crucifixion, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
For the next eight days Seeds of Christmas Past posts will be dedicated to God's Preparation for the Savior. The Preparation highlights God’s inherent plan to restore a relationship that was severed due to disobedience (sin).
Today's post, Faithful Generation reminds us of the foundational legacy established to prepare for the coming of Christ.
Matthew 1:17
So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations, from David until the captivity in Babylon are fourteen generations, and from the captivity in Babylon until the Christ are fourteen generations.
- Because of Abraham’s faith, God promised that he would be the father of many nations (Gen. 17:5-6)
- Because of David’s heart, God promised that his seed would be established forever (Ps. 89:3-4)
- Because God so loved the world, He gave his Son, Jesus the Christ to all mankind (John 3:16)
We can't change the past. However, our actions and attitudes will always lay a foundation for our future. A change in direction can make a world of difference for our children's children.
Jesus' legacy shed light on a people who believed God. They weren't perfect, but they were in search of God's promises and willing to follow His directions to the contrary of popular opinion.
Nothing has changed. God had a great plan in Abraham's day and He has a great plan today. He still uses people to carry out His plan—to save a lost world.
Though we can't see God, we must have our hearts bent towards following Him by faith and teaching our children to do the same.
