Have You Heard?

Increasing Faith

· Food For Thought,Faith

We might not want to admit it, but most of us like to hear a good, juicy story—the juicier the better.

This passage (the woman with the issue of blood) comes at a time when Jesus was becoming more popular. Crowds of people came to see Him and the streets were talking.

They came to Jesus for many different reasons. Some were encouraged and inspired; some came to receive what He was giving away; some came to trap Him; and some believed.

Mark 5:27 records this, "When she heard about Jesus, she came behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment."

Like others, this woman had heard about Jesus. It’s likely she'd heard of His preaching and teachings. It’s likely she'd heard that he was bringing good tidings of the kingdom of God. It’s likely she’d heard how He calmed the seas. It’s likely she'd heard that He was a healer.

She heard and she believed.

Jesus’ words, fell on good ground—a noble and good heart. She believed in the teachings. She believed the kingdom of God messages. She believed that Jesus Christ possessed the power to heal her because He was the Son of God.

After twelve long years of suffering and losing all of her money she finally had the answer to her problem—Jesus.

Have you heard about Jesus?

Maybe you’ve heard about how He bled, suffered and died for our sins. Maybe you’ve heard about how He rose on the third day with all power in His hands. Maybe you’ve heard how He is now seated at the right hand of God interceeding for us. Maybe you’ve heard that if you call on the Lord, confess your sin, and ask for forgiveness in the name of Jesus, that you will be saved.

The woman with the issue of blood heard about Jesus and believed in Him so much, she was willing to risk everything just to touch the hem of His robe. Those actions changed her life for all eternity.

What about you? Have you reached out to Jesus yet?

Increase Your Faith: Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. Believe and reach out today. You won't be sorry you did.
